  • A Principal Institution of the proposed NSF S&T Center - California Earthquake Research Center (A consortium of 21 research universities and government agencies to study the physics and hazards of earthquakes with particular emphasis on California)

  • A Partner in the proposed KECK Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in Material Science and Earthquakes. A proposal for a UCSB center focused on understanding the physics of friction on the micro-, meso- and macro-scale as observed in the laboratory and the earth

  • A Principal Institution in a proposal to UCOP for estimating the effects of major earthquakes on the campuses of UCSB, UCSD and UCR

  • Increased collaboration with the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management

  • Three dimensional analysis of the geological structure and processes in the crust of Southern California, in particular Ventura Basin, Santa Barbara Channel and the Western Transverse Ranges
